Job Summary

National Records of Scotland (NRS) is currently seeking applications for a DIGITAL RECORDS ANALYST within THE DIGITAL RECORDS UNIT based in Edinburgh. This is a permanent and pensionable appointment and new entrants will normally start on the minimum of the pay range. Candidates with a disability who meet the essential criteria below will be invited to the assessments.

This new post is seeking a new addition to the Digital Records Unit who holds excellent digital and analytical skills in order to work closely and effectively with other public bodies and Stakeholders in creating and transferring records to courts and government.

Qualifications Required

For jobs in Band B & C you must hold a minimum of 3 Highers or equivalent.

Other qualifications equivalent to these may also be acceptable, if you are in any doubt please contact to discuss.

Essential Criteria

  1. Strong analytical skills and an ability to collate different forms of information and to provide recommendations to inform decision making.
  2. Hands-on experience of analysing digital files at the bit stream level eg by using a hex editor; or you will have comparable experience in a related field such as digital forensics.
  3. Experience and knowledge of developing metadata models and validating data against those specifications.
  4. Proven ability to work flexibly and to meet agreed deadlines while maintaining a high degree of accuracy.
